2-{[(Benzyloxy)carbonyl]amino}-4-carbamoylbutanoic acid is a peptidomimetic that inhibits β-catenin signaling, leading to decreased cell proliferation. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells and to be effective in preventing an outbreak of corynebacterium. 2-{[(Benzyloxy)carbonyl]amino}-4-carbamoylbutanoic acid was also shown to reduce the production of fatty acids and viral life. This compound is synthetic and can be made by microbial biotransformation or protein–protein interaction. It has been shown that this peptidomimetic binds with high affinity to coronaviruses, which may lead to new treatments for coronavirus infections.
