Chasmanine

Description:
Chasmanine, with the CAS number 5066-78-4, is a naturally occurring alkaloid primarily derived from the plant species Chasmanthera dependens, which is found in tropical regions. This compound is characterized by its complex molecular structure, which includes multiple rings and functional groups typical of alkaloids. Chasmanine exhibits a range of biological activities, including potential anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, making it of interest in pharmacological research. Its solubility profile suggests that it may be more soluble in organic solvents than in water, which is common for many alkaloids. The compound's interactions with biological systems are still being studied, and its potential therapeutic applications are under investigation. As with many natural products, the extraction and purification processes can influence its availability and efficacy. Overall, chasmanine represents a fascinating subject for further exploration in both natural product chemistry and medicinal applications.

Chasmanine is a diterpenoid alkaloid that has been isolated from the plant family Euphorbiaceae. Chasmanine is also known as sodium carbonate or chrysophanol. It has been shown to have anti-cancer effects in prostate cancer cells, and it may be useful for the treatment of other cancers as well. Chasmanine inhibits the growth of angiogenesis by interfering with the synthesis of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in tumor cells. This agent also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. Chasmanine can be used for chemical reactions and as a medicine in Chinese traditional medicine preparations. It is also used as a chromatographic reagent for c19-diterpenoid alkaloids, which are used as medicines.
