3-Phenoxy-benzylamine

Description:
3-Phenoxy-benzylamine is an organic compound characterized by its structure, which features a benzylamine moiety substituted with a phenoxy group at the meta position. This compound typically appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid or solid, depending on its purity and form. It is known for its potential applications in various fields, including pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, due to its ability to act as a building block in the synthesis of more complex molecules. The presence of both the amine and phenoxy functional groups contributes to its reactivity, allowing it to participate in various chemical reactions, such as nucleophilic substitutions and coupling reactions. Additionally, 3-Phenoxy-benzylamine may exhibit biological activity, making it of interest in medicinal chemistry. Its solubility characteristics can vary, often being soluble in organic solvents while having limited solubility in water. Safety data should be consulted for handling and storage, as with any chemical substance, to ensure proper precautions are taken.

  • 3-Phenoxy-benzylamine

    CAS:

3-phenoxybenzylamine is a regulatory agent that has been shown to inhibit the activity of some drugs. The toxicities of 3-phenoxybenzylamine are similar to those of other inhibitor drugs and include acute toxicity, which may be due to inhibition of intracellular ATP, and chronic effects that may be due to protein–protein interaction or competition with chloride for the cell membrane. It has been shown to be an excellent validation agent for acrylonitrile production by reacting with acetonitrile in the presence of alkali metal compounds. 3-Phenoxybenzylamine also inhibits cancer cells, which is related to its ability to bind proteins in the cancer cell membranes.
