CAS:2'-Deoxy-5-hydroxymethyluridine (DHMU) is a natural compound that has been shown to have inhibitory properties against bowel disease. DHMU inhibits the proliferation of wild-type strains of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium and Escherichia coli by binding to their nuclear dna. It also prevents DNA synthesis in human polymorphonuclear leukocytes and synergizes with pharmacological agents, such as radiation or chemotherapeutic agents, to induce cell death. This agent can be used as an analytical method for the detection of nucleic acids.
