CAS:2-(1-Hydroxycyclohexyl)butanoic acid is an analog of 2-cyclohexyl-2-hydroxypropanoic acid. It inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase. 2-(1-Hydroxycyclohexyl)butanoic acid has been shown to be effective in treating autoimmune diseases and inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory compounds. This drug also has potent antibacterial activity against a wide range of bacteria. The therapeutic dosage for this drug is between 100mg and 200mg per day in three divided doses.
