CAS:5-(Aminomethyl)furan-2-carboxylic acid hydrochloride is a monomer that belongs to the group of furans. It is soluble in solvents such as water, ethanol and acetone. 5-(Aminomethyl)furan-2-carboxylic acid hydrochloride can be used as a colorant for plastics and rubbers, or it can be used as an intermediate for other chemicals. This compound has been shown to be easily prepared by the catalyzed reaction of furfurylamine with sodium hydroxide and subsequent oxidation with sodium hypochlorite. The synthesis of this molecule requires a multistep procedure involving the preparation of 5-hydroxybenzoic acid by oxidation with nitric acid, followed by amination with ammonia in methanol, conversion to the corresponding amine salt, and finally hydrolysis of the amine salt in dilute hydrochloric acid.Formula:C6H8ClNO3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:177.58 g/mol
