It is a colorless to white solid that can be prepared by reacting 1,4,5,6,7,8-hexahydroquinoline with methyl mercaptan and sodium hydroxide in ethanol. The detection limit for this compound is 0.01 mg/L. NCAIG has been used in the development of analytical methods for determining endogenous substances such as cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP).
