CAS 5424-19-1
:Phenyl-3-pyridinylmethanone
Description:
Phenyl-3-pyridinylmethanone, also known by its CAS number 5424-19-1, is an organic compound characterized by the presence of a phenyl group and a pyridine ring connected through a methanone functional group. This compound typically exhibits a solid-state at room temperature and is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone, but may have limited solubility in water due to its hydrophobic aromatic structures. The presence of the pyridine ring imparts basic properties, allowing it to participate in various chemical reactions, including nucleophilic substitutions and electrophilic aromatic substitutions. Additionally, the compound may exhibit biological activity, making it of interest in pharmaceutical research. Its molecular structure contributes to its potential as a ligand in coordination chemistry and as a precursor in the synthesis of more complex organic molecules. Safety data should be consulted for handling, as with many organic compounds, it may pose health risks if ingested or inhaled.

CAS:
3-Benzoylpyridine is a c1-c4 haloalkyl that absorbs UV light. It is a weak base and can be prepared by the reaction of 3-nitrobenzoyl chloride with benzene, amines, or ammonia. 3-Benzoylpyridine reacts with hydroxide to form the hydroxy derivative. The molecule has nitrogen atoms on the ring and a hydrogen bond between the two benzene rings. The hydroxy group is attached to an oxygen atom. Preparative high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) can be used to separate 3-benzoylpyridine from other compounds in a mixture. The structural analysis of 3-benzoylpyridine was done using photoreduction followed by mass spectrometry. This compound is used in pharmaceuticals and as a solvent for dyes and oils.
Formula:C12H9NOPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Slightly Yellow Clear LiquidMolecular weight:183.21 g/molPhenyl(pyridin-3-yl)methanone

CAS:
3-Benzoylpyridine is a natural product that has been isolated from the plant Plectranthus fruticosus. It is an aromatic compound, with a trifluoromethyl group and a hydroxy group. 3-Benzoylpyridine has been shown to react with amines in the presence of hydrogen gas to form 1H-1,2,3-triazole derivatives. This reaction is catalyzed by light or UV irradiation. The absorption maxima for 3-benzoylpyridine are at 270 nm and 330 nm in water and ethanol, respectively. In addition, 3-benzoylpyridine is able to combine with hydroxide ions to form the corresponding salt, which can be reduced to yield the nitrogen containing heterocyclic ring (3-benzo[b]pyridin).
Formula:C12H9NOPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:183.21 g/mol
