:5-Bromoisothiazole
Description:
5-Bromoisothiazole is a heterocyclic compound characterized by a five-membered ring containing both sulfur and nitrogen atoms, specifically featuring a bromine substituent at the 5-position. This compound is typically represented by the molecular formula C3H2BrN2S. It exhibits a pale yellow to light brown appearance and is known for its reactivity due to the presence of the bromine atom, which can participate in various substitution reactions. 5-Bromoisothiazole is soluble in organic solvents, making it useful in organic synthesis and as an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Its unique structure allows it to exhibit biological activity, including potential antimicrobial and antifungal properties. Additionally, it can serve as a building block for more complex molecules in medicinal chemistry. Safety data indicates that, like many brominated compounds, it should be handled with care due to potential toxicity and environmental concerns. Proper safety protocols should be followed when working with this substance in laboratory settings.

5-Bromoisothiazole
CAS:
5-Bromoisothiazole is a conformationally constrained isoform of isothiazole. It has significant antifungal activity and binds to a number of kinases. 5-Bromoisothiazole has been shown to have chemokine inhibitory effects in human breast carcinoma cells. This molecule also inhibits the production of cyclooxygenase-2, and may be used to treat inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. 5-Bromoisothiazole also inhibits the synthesis of nitric oxide by inhibiting the enzyme nitrosylating reductase, which is involved in the conversion of nitrate to nitrite. The biological function of this molecule is not yet well understood, but it may play a role in cellular metabolism or cell signaling.
Formula:C3H2BrNSPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Brown Liquid.Molecular weight:164.02 g/mol5-Bromoisothiazole
