1-(4-methoxyphenyl)pyrrolidine

Description:
1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)pyrrolidine, with the CAS number 54660-04-7, is an organic compound characterized by its pyrrolidine ring, which is a five-membered nitrogen-containing heterocycle. The presence of a 4-methoxyphenyl group indicates that a methoxy group (-OCH3) is attached to a phenyl ring at the para position, contributing to the compound's aromatic characteristics. This structure imparts specific physical and chemical properties, such as potential solubility in organic solvents and moderate polarity. The compound may exhibit biological activity, making it of interest in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology. Its molecular interactions can be influenced by the methoxy group, which can affect hydrogen bonding and electronic distribution. Additionally, the compound's stability, reactivity, and potential applications in synthesis or as a pharmaceutical intermediate can be explored further in research contexts. Safety data and handling precautions should be considered, as with any chemical substance, to ensure proper laboratory practices.

    CAS:

1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)pyrrolidine is an amide that is structurally related to buspirone and diazepam. It has been shown to have a high affinity for serotonin receptors. 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)pyrrolidine has been found to be an antagonist of diazepam in the brain, and it also inhibits the binding of lidocaine to the sodium channel. In addition, 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)pyrrolidine has pharmacological properties similar to those of procaine and lidocaine, which are used as local anesthetics. This drug was found to be acutely toxic in rats, but not at levels that would be harmful for humans.
