:4,5-Dihydroxynaphthalene-3-(4-nitrophenylazo)-2,7-disulfonic acid disodium salt
Description:
4,5-Dihydroxynaphthalene-3-(4-nitrophenylazo)-2,7-disulfonic acid disodium salt, commonly known as Disodium 4,5-dihydroxy-3-(4-nitrophenylazo)-2,7-naphthalenedisulfonate, is a synthetic organic compound characterized by its azo dye structure. This compound features a naphthalene backbone with hydroxyl and sulfonic acid functional groups, contributing to its solubility in water and making it useful in various applications, particularly in dyeing and as a pH indicator. The presence of the nitrophenylazo group imparts vivid coloration, which is a hallmark of azo dyes. Its disodium salt form enhances its solubility and stability in aqueous solutions. The compound is typically used in analytical chemistry, particularly in spectrophotometric applications, due to its ability to form colored complexes with metal ions. Additionally, it may have applications in biological studies, as azo compounds can exhibit interesting interactions with biomolecules. Safety data should be consulted, as azo dyes can sometimes be associated with toxicity and environmental concerns.

CAS:
Chromotrope 2B is a water-soluble dye that is used for the detection of the presence of hydrochloric acid in urine samples. It is also used to detect the presence of biological samples in pharmaceutical preparations. The optimum concentration for this dye is 0.5% with phosphotungstic acid and 3% with human serum. Chromotrope 2B has been shown to be active when exposed to radiation, as well as having an absorption maximum at 381 nm. Chromotrope 2B reacts with plasma proteins to form a blue colored compound called chromoprotein, which can be detected by mass spectrometry.
br>br>
Formula:C16H9N3O10S2·2NaPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:513.37 g/molChromotrope 2B
