:Chlorhexidine
Description:
Chlorhexidine is a cationic antiseptic and disinfectant widely used in medical and dental applications. It is characterized by its broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, and some viruses, making it effective for skin disinfection and oral hygiene products. Chlorhexidine is typically available in various formulations, including solutions, gels, and mouthwashes, and is known for its prolonged residual activity, which helps maintain antimicrobial effects after application. The substance is soluble in water and alcohol, with a relatively low toxicity profile when used as directed. However, it can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals. Chlorhexidine's mechanism of action involves disrupting microbial cell membranes and precipitating cellular contents, leading to cell death. Due to its effectiveness and stability, it is commonly employed in surgical scrubs, hand sanitizers, and as a preservative in some pharmaceutical formulations. Its use is generally considered safe, but care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes and ears, as it can be irritating to mucous membranes.

CAS:
Chlorhexidine is a disinfectant that is used as an antiseptic and preservative. It is active against a wide range of microorganisms, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses. Chlorhexidine binds to human serum proteins and forms stable complexes. The chlorhexidine–protein complex binds to the mitochondrial membrane potential in human erythrocytes, which may be due to the formation of hydrogen bonds with phosphate groups on the protein surface. This irreversible binding leads to a decrease in the mitochondrial membrane potential, resulting in cell death by apoptosis or necrosis. Triclosan is commonly added as an antimicrobial agent in personal care products such as toothpastes and soaps, although it has shown some resistance among Gram-positive bacteria. Chlorhexidine has also been shown to have allergic symptoms in humans when applied topically or taken orally.
Formula:C22H30Cl2N10Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:505.45 g/mol1-({amino[(4-chlorophenyl)amino]methylidene}amino)-N-(6-{[({amino[(4-chlorophenyl)amino]methylidene}amino)methanimidoyl]amino}hexyl)methanimidamide
