7,8,8a,9a-Tetrahydrobenzo[1,12]tetrapheno[10,11-b]oxirene-7,8-diol is a potent inhibitor of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) that is synthesized by a chemical reaction. It inhibits the activity of c-jun phosphorylation and DNA synthesis in HL60 cells. 7,8,8a,9a-Tetrahydrobenzo[1,12]tetrapheno[10,11-b]oxirene-7,8-diol is also an apoptosis inducer for HL60 cells. This agent has been shown to induce apoptosis by binding to DNA template and inhibiting mitochondrial functions.
