:5-methoxybenzofuran-2-ylboronic acid
Description:
5-Methoxybenzofuran-2-ylboronic acid is an organic compound characterized by the presence of a boronic acid functional group attached to a benzofuran moiety. This compound typically exhibits properties associated with both aromatic and heterocyclic compounds, including potential for π-π stacking interactions due to its aromatic structure. The methoxy group enhances its solubility in organic solvents and may influence its reactivity and binding properties. Boronic acids are known for their ability to form reversible covalent bonds with diols, making this compound useful in various applications, including organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. The presence of the boronic acid group allows for participation in cross-coupling reactions, which are valuable in the formation of carbon-carbon bonds. Additionally, the compound may exhibit biological activity, making it of interest in drug discovery and development. Its stability, reactivity, and solubility characteristics can vary based on environmental conditions such as pH and solvent polarity. Overall, 5-methoxybenzofuran-2-ylboronic acid is a versatile compound with potential applications in both research and industry.

CAS:The 5-methoxybenzofuran-2-ylboronic acid (5'MBF) is a labeled ligand that binds to the β-amyloid protein in the brain. The binding of this compound to β-amyloid disrupts the formation of amyloid fibrils, which are associated with Alzheimer's disease. In autoradiographic studies, 5'MBF was found to bind specifically to regions of the human brain where amyloid plaques accumulate. Autopsied brains from tg2576 mice that were injected with 5'MBF revealed that the compound had been taken up by neurons and localized in the cytoplasm in high concentrations. These findings suggest that 5'MBF binds to β-amyloid and prevents its aggregation into fibrils.Formula:C9H9BO4Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:191.98 g/mol
