Methyl 3-methyl-4,5-dihydro-1,2-oxazole-5-carboxylate (MMDC) is a heterocyclic compound that is used as a raw material for the production of various chemicals. It can be used to produce aniline and acetaldehyde. MMDC is also used in the synthesis of other heterocyclic compounds, such as methyl 2-(3,4-dimethoxybenzoyl)-1H-imidazole-5-carboxylate. This chemical has been found to be an effective inhibitor of bacterial nitrite reductase activity.
