CAS 55557-02-3
:Nitrosoguvacoline
Description:
Nitrosoguvacoline, with the CAS number 55557-02-3, is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of nitrosamines, which are known for their potential carcinogenic properties. It is derived from guvacine, a naturally occurring alkaloid, through a nitrosation reaction. This compound is typically characterized by its nitrogen-containing functional groups, which contribute to its reactivity and biological activity. Nitrosoguvacoline is primarily studied for its effects on the central nervous system, as it may exhibit neuropharmacological properties. However, due to the presence of the nitroso group, it raises concerns regarding safety and toxicity, particularly in terms of long-term exposure and potential health risks. As with many nitrosamines, its stability and behavior in biological systems can vary, making it a subject of interest in toxicology and pharmacology research. Proper handling and safety measures are essential when working with this compound, given its classification and associated risks.

CAS:
N-Nitroso guvacoline is a nitrosated guvacoline analog that is used to induce cancer in animals and as an experimental tool for studying the role of acetylcholine in lung cancer. N-Nitroso guvacoline has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria such as typhimurium and nadph-cytochrome p450 in the presence of fatty acids, suggesting that it may be genotoxic. The carcinogenic effects of N-nitrosoguvacolin were studied using Sprague-Dawley rats exposed to this agent by inhalation. The rats were found to have increased levels of urinary nitrite and nitrate, which are products from the metabolism of N-nitrosoguvacolin.
Formula:C7H10N2O3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:170.17 g/mol
