CAS:Glyoxylic acid is a reagent for sulfinylmaleate synthesis. It is one of the chemicals used in the Hopkins Cole reaction. It is involved to check the presence of tryptophan in proteins. It is condensed with urea and 1,2-diaminobenzene to form heterocycles. It also undergoes Friedel-Crafts and cycloco

CAS:Glyoxylic acid is a water-soluble molecule that is produced by the oxidation of glycolic acid. The chemical properties of glyoxylic acid are similar to those of other alpha-hydroxy acids, such as lactic acid and mandelic acid. It can be used as an analytical method for determining the presence of neurokinin-1 receptor in biological samples. Glyoxylic acid has antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus faecalis. Glyoxylic acid also has pharmacokinetic properties that make it useful for hiv infection. One study found that dinucleotide phosphate (NDP) was increased by glyoxylic acid in mice with hiv infection, which may inhibit HIV production and replication.
