CAS 574-66-3
:Benzophenone, oxime
Description:
Benzophenone oxime, with the CAS number 574-66-3, is an organic compound characterized by its oxime functional group attached to a benzophenone structure. It appears as a white to pale yellow crystalline solid and is known for its ability to absorb ultraviolet (UV) light, making it useful in various applications, particularly as a UV stabilizer in plastics and coatings. The compound has a moderate solubility in organic solvents and is relatively stable under normal conditions. Benzophenone oxime exhibits properties typical of oximes, including the potential for tautomerization between the oxime and its corresponding ketone form. It is important to handle this substance with care, as it may pose health risks upon exposure, including skin and eye irritation. Additionally, it is subject to regulatory scrutiny due to its potential environmental impact. Overall, benzophenone oxime serves as a valuable compound in the fields of materials science and organic chemistry.

CAS:
Benzophenone oxime is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of oximes. It is an isomeric mixture of two compounds, benzophenone and phenoxazine. The activation energies for the reactions of benzophenone and phenoxazine are respectively 18.2 kcal/mol and 14.5 kcal/mol. Benzophenone oxime has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in various animal models, such as rat paw edema, carrageenan induced pleurisy, or adjuvant arthritis in rats. The mechanism of action may be due to its ability to inhibit secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) activity by blocking the binding between sPLA2 and amines and unsaturated alkyl groups on phospholipids. Benzophenone oxime also inhibits arachidonic acid release from phospholipids by inhibiting the enzyme lipoxygenase (LOX).
Formula:C13H11NOPurity:Min. 97.5 Area-%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:197.23 g/molBenzophenone oxime
