    <p>Deslorelin is a hormone that belongs to the class of gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogs. It is used to induce ovulation and as a contraceptive in humans. Deslorelin binds to receptors on the surface of cells in the pituitary gland and inhibits secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). This causes an inhibition of ovarian activity, which leads to the cessation of ovulation. Deslorelin also has been shown to be effective in reducing autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, by inhibiting production of antibodies against basic fibroblast antigen.</p>
