CAS 58-22-0
:Testosterone
Description:
Testosterone, with the CAS number 58-22-0, is a steroid hormone primarily produced in the testes in males and the ovaries in females, as well as in the adrenal glands. It plays a crucial role in the development of male reproductive tissues and the promotion of secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass. Chemically, testosterone is classified as an androgen, with a molecular formula of C19H28O2. It exhibits a characteristic four-ring carbon structure typical of steroids, with a hydroxyl group (-OH) that contributes to its biological activity. Testosterone is lipophilic, allowing it to easily cross cell membranes and bind to androgen receptors, initiating various physiological responses. It is also involved in regulating libido, mood, and energy levels. In clinical settings, testosterone is used in hormone replacement therapy for men with low testosterone levels and is also studied for its effects on various health conditions. However, its misuse in sports and bodybuilding raises concerns regarding ethical practices and health risks.

CAS:Controlled Product
Testosterone is a steroid hormone that is secreted by the testes, as well as by the adrenal glands. It is responsible for the development and maintenance of secondary sexual characteristics in men and women. Testosterone levels are reduced in patients with squamous cell carcinoma, which may be due to a deficiency of this hormone. Testosterone has been shown to increase levels of natriuretic peptides (NPs), which are important for regulating blood pressure and fluid balance. A deficiency of testosterone has also been linked to bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. In addition, testosterone may be used as a model system for studying other steroids because it has been found to bind to specific proteins on the surface of human cells, called CDNA clones.
Formula:C19H28O2Purity:Min. 97.0 Area-%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:288.42 g/molTestosterone (free base) extrapure, 99%
