• Cyclopropylisocyanide

    CAS:

Cyclopropylisocyanide is a reversible covalent inhibitor of the serine protease ns3. It prevents the release and activation of pro-inflammatory cytokines by binding to these enzymes. Cyclopropylisocyanide has been shown to be an effective treatment for autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases, and hepatitis C. This drug also inhibits the production of malic acid in cells infected with hepatitis C virus. Cyclopropylisocyanide binds to the catalytic site of ns3 and inhibits the activity with a high affinity. The enzyme is reversibly inhibited by formation of a covalent bond between cyclopropylisocyanide and a cysteine residue in the active site. The inhibition is specific to ns3, as other proteases are not inhibited by this drug.
