:3-Bromophenethylamine
Description:
3-Bromophenethylamine is an organic compound characterized by the presence of a bromine atom attached to the phenyl ring of a phenethylamine structure. It features an amine functional group (-NH2) that contributes to its basicity and potential reactivity. The compound typically appears as a colorless to pale yellow liquid or solid, depending on its purity and form. It is soluble in organic solvents and may exhibit limited solubility in water due to the hydrophobic nature of the phenyl group. 3-Bromophenethylamine is of interest in various fields, including medicinal chemistry, where it may serve as a precursor or intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals or other bioactive compounds. Its bromine substituent can influence its biological activity and reactivity, making it a valuable compound for research. As with many amines, it may exhibit basic properties and can participate in various chemical reactions, including alkylation and acylation. Safety precautions should be taken when handling this compound, as it may pose health risks if ingested or inhaled.

CAS:Controlled Product
2-(3-Bromophenyl)ethanamine is an affinity ligand for the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 7 (5-HT7). It has a high affinity for the 5-HT7 receptor and can also be used to study other serotonin receptors. This compound has been shown to bind to the 5-HT7 with a Kd of 0.3 nM and no significant binding at other serotonin receptors. It was found that 2-(3-bromophenyl)ethanamine does not inhibit the uptake of serotonin from synaptosomal preparations, but does inhibit the uptake of serotonin from cerebrospinal fluid. These results were confirmed in vitro using radioligand binding assays and autoradiography, demonstrating that 2-(3-bromophenyl)ethanamine binds selectively to the 5-HT7 receptor.
Formula:C8H10BrNPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Colorless PowderMolecular weight:200.08 g/mol
