:Folic acid
Description:
Folic acid, also known as vitamin B9, is a water-soluble B vitamin essential for various biological functions. Its chemical formula is C19H19N7O6, and it has a molecular weight of approximately 441.4 g/mol. Folic acid plays a crucial role in DNA synthesis, repair, and methylation, making it vital for cell division and growth, particularly during periods of rapid development such as pregnancy and infancy. It is commonly found in leafy green vegetables, legumes, nuts, and fortified foods. Folic acid is often used as a dietary supplement to prevent deficiencies, which can lead to anemia and other health issues. In terms of physical properties, it appears as a yellow to orange crystalline powder, is relatively stable under normal conditions, but can degrade when exposed to light and heat. The substance is generally recognized as safe when consumed in appropriate amounts, although excessive intake can lead to adverse effects. Overall, folic acid is an essential nutrient with significant implications for health and development.

CAS:
Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin that is required for the synthesis of DNA and RNA. It is also important in the synthesis of amino acids, proteins, and lipids. It has been shown to have a protective effect against certain cancers, such as squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Folic acid may be used as a supplement for women with low levels of folic acid in their diet to decrease the risk of neural tube defects in their children. Folic Acid has been shown to bind to folate receptors on cells and inhibit extracellular adenosine production. This inhibition causes an increase in intracellular adenosine concentrations, which leads to activation of nuclear DNA polymerases.
Formula:C19H19N7O6Purity:Min. 96 Area-%Color and Shape:Yellow PowderMolecular weight:441.4 g/molFolic Acid ExiPlus, Multi-Compendial, 98%
