CAS 590-17-0
:Bromoacetonitrile
Description:
Bromoacetonitrile, with the CAS number 590-17-0, is an organic compound characterized by the presence of both a bromine atom and a nitrile functional group. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid that is soluble in polar organic solvents. The compound has a relatively low boiling point and is known for its reactivity, particularly due to the presence of the bromine atom, which can participate in nucleophilic substitution reactions. Bromoacetonitrile is often used as an intermediate in organic synthesis, particularly in the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. It is important to handle this compound with care, as it can be toxic and poses health risks upon exposure. Additionally, it may undergo hydrolysis in the presence of water, leading to the formation of acetic acid and other byproducts. Proper safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment and working in a well-ventilated area, are essential when working with this chemical.

CAS:
Bromoacetonitrile is a metabolic disorder agent that inhibits the enzyme alkanoic acid. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to an increase in the concentration of 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA, which results in the accumulation of ketone bodies. Bromoacetonitrile has been used as a pharmacological agent in the treatment of autoimmune diseases and metabolic disorders. Bromoacetonitrile binds to a hydroxyl group on the enzyme and changes its shape, which prevents the formation of the product molecule. This causes an increase in reaction time and, consequently, an increase in the concentration of 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA. Bromoacetonitrile is also a genotoxic agent that is capable of causing mutations and DNA damage when it reacts with hydrogen fluoride (HF).
Formula:C2H2BrNPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Yellow Clear LiquidMolecular weight:119.95 g/mol
