:Guanidine, N,N-dimethyl-, sulfate (2:1)
Description:
Guanidine, N,N-dimethyl-, sulfate (2:1), commonly referred to as dimethylguanidine sulfate, is an organic compound characterized by its guanidine structure, which features a central carbon atom bonded to three nitrogen atoms, with two of those nitrogen atoms further bonded to methyl groups. This compound is typically encountered as a white crystalline solid and is soluble in water, making it useful in various applications, including as a reagent in organic synthesis and as a potential intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals. The sulfate component indicates that it forms a salt with sulfuric acid, which can influence its solubility and reactivity. Dimethylguanidine sulfate is known for its basicity and can act as a nucleophile in chemical reactions. Safety data suggests that, while it may pose some hazards, it is generally handled with standard laboratory precautions. Its unique properties make it a subject of interest in both industrial and research settings, particularly in the fields of biochemistry and materials science.

CAS:
1,1-Dimethyl guanidinium sulfate (DMGS) is a nitro compound that has been used as a surfactant in detergents and cosmetics. DMGS is not cytotoxic to cells in the absence of thioglycolate, but it can enhance the cytotoxicity of thioglycolate by up to 50%. The results of this study have been validated globally and are applicable to animal experiments. A multicentre study was conducted in order to investigate the optical properties of DMGS. The experimental results showed that DMGS absorbs light at wavelengths from 300 nm to 800 nm and has an extinction coefficient between 5×10-4 and 1×10-2 cm/cm/mm.
Formula:C3H9N3•(H2O4S)0Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:272.33 g/mol1,1-Dimethylguanidine sulfate salt
