CAS:Isoproterenol is a drug that belongs to the group of pharmacological agents. It is a synthetic catecholamine that is used medically for its cardiac stimulant effects, such as increasing heart rate and contractility, and lowering systemic vascular resistance. Isoproterenol is an agonist of the 2-adrenergic receptor and has been shown to increase mitochondrial membrane potential in human serum cells. This compound also increases energy metabolism by activating the adipose tissue lipase enzyme. Isoproterenol can be used to treat congestive heart failure, as it stimulates myocardial contractility and reduces left ventricular end-diastolic pressure through beta-1 receptor activation. This drug has been shown to have a protective effect on cardiac muscle cells by preventing apoptosis in both papillary muscle cells and cardiomyocytes in culture.
