CAS:Anthragallol is a natural compound that belongs to the coumarin derivatives. It has been shown to be effective in the prevention of eye disorders and tumors. Anthragallol has been found to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme nucleotide phosphohydrolase (NPH) in vitro, which is involved in the production of deoxyribonucleotides for DNA synthesis. The inhibition of this enzyme by anthragallol leads to a decrease in DNA synthesis and cell proliferation, which may be due to its ability to compete with adriamycin for binding sites on NPH. Anthragallol also acts as a fluorescence probe in vivo, allowing it to easily bind with cells and allow them to be visualized under fluorescent light. It has been shown that anthragallol is able to inhibit tumor growth when administered topically or orally.
