:9-Methylacridine
Description:
9-Methylacridine is an organic compound belonging to the acridine family, characterized by a fused three-ring structure that includes a nitrogen atom. It is a pale yellow to brownish solid at room temperature and is known for its aromatic properties. The presence of the methyl group at the 9-position of the acridine ring system influences its chemical behavior, making it a potential candidate for various applications in organic synthesis and as a fluorescent probe. 9-Methylacridine is moderately soluble in organic solvents, such as ethanol and acetone, but has limited solubility in water. Its chemical reactivity is primarily attributed to the nitrogen atom, which can participate in various reactions, including electrophilic substitution and oxidation. Additionally, 9-Methylacridine exhibits photophysical properties, making it useful in studies related to fluorescence and photochemistry. Safety data indicates that it should be handled with care, as it may pose health risks upon exposure. Overall, 9-Methylacridine is a compound of interest in both academic research and industrial applications.

CAS:
9-Methylacridine is a chemical compound that is a member of the acridine family. It has shown anticancer activity in animal studies and also has been used as an immunosuppressant. 9-Methylacridine can be synthesized by reacting sodium carbonate with intramolecular hydrogen, which is then purified by Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The antiviral effect of 9-methylacridine was tested on herpes simplex virus and it was found that this compound inhibited the transfer reactions of viral DNA to host cells, leading to inhibition of viral replication. Studies have also shown that 9-methylacridine has anti-inflammatory effects against caproic acid and malonic acid in rats. One study found that 9-methylacridine inhibits the cationic polymerization and biological samples are usually anhydrous sodium chloride or human serum.
Formula:C14H11NPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:193.24 g/mol
