CAS 6117-91-5
:2-Buten-1-ol
Description:
2-Buten-1-ol, with the CAS number 6117-91-5, is an unsaturated alcohol characterized by its double bond between the second and third carbon atoms in the butene chain. This compound has the molecular formula C4H8O and features a hydroxyl (-OH) functional group, which imparts alcohol properties. It exists as a colorless liquid at room temperature and has a relatively low boiling point, typical of small organic molecules. 2-Buten-1-ol is known for its reactivity, particularly in undergoing addition reactions due to the presence of the double bond, making it a useful intermediate in organic synthesis. Its structure allows for geometric isomerism, leading to the existence of both cis and trans forms, which can exhibit different physical and chemical properties. Additionally, 2-buten-1-ol is soluble in water and organic solvents, making it versatile in various chemical applications, including the production of polymers and other chemical derivatives. Safety precautions should be observed when handling this compound, as it may pose health risks if inhaled or ingested.

CAS:Crotonyl alcohol is an isomerizing agent that can be used in the synthesis of hydroxyapatite. It is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. Crotonyl alcohol has been shown to react with polycarboxylic acids such as oxalic acid to produce dihydrooxalic acid, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of hydroxyapatite. The reaction mechanism of crotonyl alcohol is unknown, but it has been proposed that this reaction proceeds through a dehydrative process whereby one water molecule is eliminated to form the carboxyl group and the other water molecule reacts with the hydroxyl group to form hydrogen peroxide. The kinetic data obtained from experiments on crotonyl alcohol demonstrate that its activation energies are lower than those for other types of reactions and that its rate-determining step occurs at a lower temperature than other reactions. This suggests that crotonyl alcohol may have an unusual reaction mechanism, which could be dueFormula:C4H8OPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Colourless To Yellow Clear LiquidMolecular weight:72.11 g/molCrotyl Alcohol (cis/trans Mixture)
