CAS 621-62-5
:2-Chloro-1,1-diethoxyethane
Description:
2-Chloro-1,1-diethoxyethane, with the CAS number 621-62-5, is an organic compound characterized by its ether functional groups and a chlorine atom. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a sweet, ether-like odor. This compound is known for its moderate volatility and relatively low solubility in water, making it more soluble in organic solvents. Its chemical structure features a central ethane backbone with two ethoxy groups (-O-CH2CH3) and one chlorine substituent, which contributes to its reactivity. 2-Chloro-1,1-diethoxyethane can participate in nucleophilic substitution reactions due to the presence of the chlorine atom, making it useful in organic synthesis. Additionally, it is important to handle this compound with care, as it may pose health risks upon exposure, including irritation to the skin and respiratory system. Proper safety measures should be taken when working with this substance in laboratory or industrial settings.

CAS:
Chloroacetaldehyde diethyl acetal is a reactive, aliphatic hydrocarbon. It reacts with hydrochloric acid to form chloroacetic acid and diethyl ether. Chloroacetaldehyde diethyl acetal has been found to be genotoxic in vitro and in vivo due to its ability to react with the hydroxyl group of DNA and RNA. This chemical also shows an inhibitory effect on cationic polymerization reactions, which are used in the production of plastics. In addition, chloroacetaldehyde diethyl acetal is able to induce psychosis in rats at doses of 4-8 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), based on a study using Sprague-Dawley rats. Urinary samples showed that the metabolite 2,4-dichloro-5-oxopentanoic acid was present after ingestion of this chemical at levels of 1 mg/kg.
Formula:C6H13ClO2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:152.62 g/mol
