CAS 621-64-7
:N-Nitrosodipropylamine
Description:
N-Nitrosodipropylamine (NDPA) is a synthetic organic compound classified as a nitrosamine, which is formed by the reaction of nitrous acid with secondary amines. It is characterized by its chemical formula C₆H₁₄N₂O and is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a faint odor. NDPA is known for its potential carcinogenic properties, as many nitrosamines are associated with increased cancer risk in laboratory animals and possibly in humans. It is soluble in organic solvents but has limited solubility in water. NDPA is primarily used in research and industrial applications, particularly in the production of rubber and as a stabilizer in certain chemical processes. Due to its toxicological profile, handling NDPA requires strict safety measures to minimize exposure. Regulatory agencies monitor its use and presence in the environment, given its potential health risks. Overall, N-Nitrosodipropylamine exemplifies the need for careful management of chemicals with known hazardous properties.

CAS:
N-Nitrosodipropylamine is a chemical that is used in wastewater treatment. It is found in acetate extracts of sewage sludge and has been shown to inhibit the activity of rat liver microsomes. N-Nitrosodipropylamine has been linked to cancer, and although it has not been shown to cause cancer in rats, it does have carcinogenic potential. This chemical also inhibits the activity of bacterial cytochrome P450 enzymes, which are important for regulating the synthesis of lipids, steroids, and other biologically important molecules. N-Nitrosodipropylamine has also been shown to be an anthelmintic drug, but when administered orally or intraperitoneally at high doses, it causes maternal toxicity and fetal death in pregnant rats. The use of this drug should therefore be avoided during pregnancy.
Formula:C6H14N2OPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:130.19 g/molN-Nitrosodipropylamine (NDPA) Solution (1 mL ) (N,N-dipropylnitrous amide)
