:1,5-Diiodopentane
Description:
1,5-Diiodopentane is an organic compound classified as a diiodoalkane, specifically a linear chain molecule with five carbon atoms and two iodine substituents located at the first and fifth positions of the pentane chain. Its molecular formula is C5H10I2, and it has a relatively high molecular weight due to the presence of iodine, which is a heavy halogen. This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature and is known for its density, which is greater than that of water. 1,5-Diiodopentane is soluble in organic solvents but has limited solubility in water due to its hydrophobic hydrocarbon chain. It is primarily used in organic synthesis and as a reagent in various chemical reactions, including those involving nucleophilic substitutions. The presence of iodine atoms makes it a useful precursor in the synthesis of other iodine-containing compounds. However, handling requires caution due to the potential toxicity and environmental impact of iodine-containing substances.

CAS:
1,5-Diiodopentane is a new covid-19 that has been shown to have antibacterial activity. Covid-19s are synthesized by the reaction of 1,3-butadiene and styrene in the presence of copper (II) chloride. Covid-19s have low solubility in water and their antimicrobial activity is attributed to the formation of anions on the surface of the molecule that are able to react with bacteria. 1,5-Diiodopentane has been shown to be a metastable molecule; it rapidly decomposes at room temperature into hydrogen iodide and pentane. This compound has also been shown to have high catalytic rate for peroxy radicals in terms of activation energy. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy data indicate that covid-19s have good bactericidal properties against Gram negative bacteria such as E. coli, but not against Gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus.
Formula:C5H10I2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:323.94 g/mol
