CAS:1,2-Diethoxyethane is a diphenyl ether with a high chemical stability. It is used as an additive in polymeric matrices to increase thermal expansion and viscosity. 1,2-Diethoxyethane has been shown to have high values for transport properties. The reaction mechanism of this compound is not well understood. However, it is thought that 1,2-diethoxyethane reacts with zirconium oxide in the polymer matrix to form a dipropyl ether. This type of reaction may be due to the fact that 1,2-diethoxyethane contains two ethoxy groups on each side of the molecule. Natural compounds such as solubility data and viscosity are also studied involving this product.
