CAS:2-Acetamido-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propanoic acid is an organic acid that is used as a diagnostic agent for dopamine. It has been shown to be effective in the diagnosis of pediatric cases of DOPA responsive dystonia and DOPA responsive choreoathetosis. This compound may be used to diagnose Parkinson's disease, although it is not yet approved for this use. 2-Acetamido-3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propanoic acid is also used as a biochemical marker in the retrospective diagnosis of monoamine oxidase inhibitor therapy and in the clinical development of drugs with monoamine oxidase inhibiting activity.
