4,5-Dihydroxybenzene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid
CAS:
Protocatechuic acid is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is the main metabolite of 4,5-dihydroxybenzene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid. It is a carbon source for bacteria and has been shown to increase the synthesis of protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase (PCO) in rat liver cells when incubated. Protocatechuic acid is also a precursor for the production of 2-hydroxybenzoic acid and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, which are found in many foods. The genus that produces protocatechuic acid belongs to the class of extradiols. This means that it contains four contiguous double bonds on one side of the molecule. Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is a species with high levels of protocatechuic acid and can be used as an indicator for this compound.
Formula:C8H6O6Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:198.13 g/mol
