Direct Black 19 is a polymer that is a reactive dye. It is a cationic surfactant and can be used in wastewater treatment to remove color from the water. Direct Black 19 has been shown to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Bacillus subtilis.
