CAS:
Trimethoxytoluene is a natural phenolic compound that is found in the medicinal plant Aristolochia clematitis. Trimethoxytoluene has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on the reaction of phthalic anhydride and nitrobenzene. It reacts with acidic phs to form aristolochic acid, which prevents nucleophilic attack on the aromatic ring. Trimethoxytoluene also inhibits the Friedel-Crafts reaction by reacting with the alkylating agent, benzoyl chloride, which forms a complex that cannot react further. The reaction products are biphenyl and 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl alcohol. Trimethoxytoluene is converted into vitamin D3 when exposed to ultraviolet light.
Formula:C10H14O3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:182.22 g/mol3,4,5-Trimethoxytoluene
