cis-Stilbene is a natural product that has been shown to have anticancer activity. It is an epoxidase inhibitor and potent inducer of apoptosis in human cancer cells. The mechanism of cis-stilbene's anticancer activity may be due to the steric interactions between the molecule and the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, which are responsible for the conversion of dihydrofolate to tetrahydrofolate.
