Lisofylline is a chemical inhibitor of P-glycoprotein (P-gp), which belongs to the group of pharmacological agents. It is used as an active inhibitor in the treatment of bowel disease and is a low potency, non-selective squamous cell nuclear dna (SCCN) p-gp inhibitor. Lisofylline has shown to be an active inhibitor of P-gp in human colon cancer cells. Lisofylline inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential by binding to the rate constant and response element, which prevents ATP production and leads to cell death through oxidative injury.
