4-Aminosalicylic acid, also known as para-aminosalicylic acid (PAS), is an aromatic compound with the molecular formula C7H9NO3.     4-Aminosalicylic acid (4-ASA) is a drug with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It is used in the treatment of bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. 4-ASA binds to the 4th carbon on the para position of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is a metabolite of salicylic acid.
