CAS:Nimorazole is a new antibiotic that binds to the receptor site of metronidazole, which is an antibiotic and antiprotozoal agent. Nimorazole has been shown to be effective in treating autoimmune diseases by inhibiting the production of cytokines and chemokines. It also has a high affinity for bacterial DNA gyrase, topoisomerase IV, and RNA polymerase. The binding of nimorazole to these enzymes leads to the inhibition of protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. Nimorazole may also have a role in treating infectious diseases such as diarrhoea because it inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Clostridium difficile through its inhibitory effects on protein synthesis.
