Sodium lauryl ether sulfate is a surfactant that is used as an analytical agent, solubilizer, or in wastewater treatment. It can also be used as a conditioning agent and solute. Sodium lauryl ether sulfate is used in the manufacturing of detergents and toothpaste. Sodium lauryl ether sulfate has a dodecyl chain with 10-18 carbon atoms and a hydrophobic end group.
