    <p>4-Bromomandelic acid is a chemical with the molecular formula CHBrO. It is an acid that can be found in the form of a solution at room temperature. It is soluble in water and alcohols, but not in ether or chloroform. 4-Bromomandelic acid is used as a reagent for the identification of carbohydrates and other organic compounds by phase chromatography. 4-Bromomandelic acid can be recycled from triticum aestivum (wheat) straw by washing with hydrochloric acid to remove impurities.
