:Keratin hydrolyzates
Description:
Keratin hydrolyzates, identified by the CAS number 69430-36-0, are derived from keratin, a fibrous structural protein found in hair, nails, and the outer layer of skin. These hydrolyzates are produced through the hydrolysis of keratin, which breaks down the protein into smaller peptides and amino acids, making them more soluble and bioavailable. Characteristically, keratin hydrolyzates exhibit excellent film-forming properties, which contribute to their use in cosmetic and personal care products, particularly in hair and skin formulations. They are known for their ability to improve moisture retention, enhance hair strength, and provide a protective barrier. Additionally, keratin hydrolyzates can help repair damaged hair by filling in gaps in the hair structure. Their biocompatibility and nutritional profile make them suitable for various applications, including dietary supplements and functional foods. Overall, keratin hydrolyzates are valued for their multifunctional properties, promoting health and beauty in both cosmetic and nutritional contexts.

CAS:<p>Keratin is a protein found in the outer layer of skin, hair, and nails. It is one of the major structural proteins of the human body. Keratin-20% is a water solution that contains 20% keratin extract. The hydroxyl group on one end of the molecule binds to hydrogen ions from water molecules, and this allows keratin to form hydrogen bonds with other keratins in aqueous solutions. Keratin-20% has been shown to have potent inducing activity for nuclear DNA synthesis and cell proliferation in vitro. In vivo studies have shown that Keratin-20% can induce tumor growth at high concentrations, but not at low concentrations. Toxicity studies have also shown that Keratin-20% can cause cellular toxicity through lipid peroxidation and formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Model system data has shown that these effects are dependent on concentration and duration of exposure.
