• O-Desmethyl quinidine

    CAS:

O-Desmethyl quinidine (ODMQ) is an analog of cinchonidine and has a protonated molecule. ODMQ is used as a probe in analytical methods to measure the potency of inhibition of various enzyme systems involved in the metabolism of drugs. It is also used as a standard for the determination of drug levels in biological fluids. The compound has been shown to have potent inhibition against human liver microsomes and rat liver microsomes, with IC50 values at 1 µM. ODMQ is also able to inhibit cardiac enzymes with an IC50 value of 0.4 µM, and it has been used as a substrate for chemical ionization mass spectrometry. ODMQ can be synthesized by an asymmetric synthesis from cinchonidine and its enantiomer, which would produce a mixture that could then be separated by chromatography into two pure enantiomers.
