:1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidic acid disodium salt
Description:
1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidic acid disodium salt, commonly referred to as DPPA, is a phospholipid that plays a significant role in cellular membranes and lipid bilayers. It is characterized by its two palmitic acid (C16) fatty acid chains, which contribute to its hydrophobic properties, and a phosphate group that imparts hydrophilicity, making it amphiphilic. This dual nature allows DPPA to form micelles and liposomes, which are essential in drug delivery and membrane studies. The disodium salt form enhances its solubility in aqueous environments, facilitating its use in biological and biochemical applications. DPPA is often utilized in research related to membrane dynamics, cell signaling, and as a model compound for studying lipid interactions. Its stability and ability to form organized structures make it valuable in the development of nanocarriers and in the formulation of liposomal drugs. Additionally, it is important in the study of lipid metabolism and the role of phospholipids in cellular processes.

1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidic acid sodium
CAS:1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidic acid sodium (DPPA) is a drug substance that has been used in primary culture to study the cell membrane of hepatocytes. This compound is a phospholipid with a cavity at one end and contains two hydroxy groups that can be conjugated to other molecules. It has been shown to be effective against Hepatitis B virus and mesenchymal stromal cells. DPPA has also been used as an adjuvant for gadolinium contrast agents for magnetic resonance imaging. Gadolinium may bind to the hydroxy groups on DPPA, which increases its birefringence and brightness on MRI scans.Formula:C35H69Na2O8PPurity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:694.87 g/mol
