CAS:5-Hydroxydecanoic acid sodium is a precursor of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) that is released from platelets during the process of ischemia. It has been shown to activate the P2Y receptors in the arterial wall, which leads to increased infarct size and decreased myocardial function. The signaling pathways activated by 5-hydroxydecanoic acid sodium are not fully understood, but it has been shown to cause mitochondrial depolarization and release of cytochrome c. In addition, 5-hydroxydecanoic acid sodium has been shown to have cardioprotective effects against preconditioning and reperfusion injury. These effects may be due to its ability to inhibit channels such as potassium channels and voltage-gated calcium channels.
