  • 2-Stilbazol

    CAS:

2-Stilbazol is a potent antitumor agent that has been shown to be effective against a variety of tumors. The drug is used in the treatment of cancer, including melanoma, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. 2-Stilbazol inhibits tumor growth by binding to the DNA and RNA strands in the cell nucleus. This prevents cell division and protein synthesis. The absorption of UV light generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the tumor cells, which leads to their death. The drug can also induce apoptosis by inhibiting the production of proteins needed for cell division or activating a protein called p53 (tumor suppressor gene). 2-Stilbazol also has an oral prodrug form that is hydrolyzed into hydrogen fluoride and stilbazole. Hydrogen fluoride inhibits tumor growth by blocking DNA synthesis and destroying DNA strands.
