:2,4-Dimethyl-1,3-oxazole
Description:
2,4-Dimethyl-1,3-oxazole is a heterocyclic organic compound characterized by a five-membered ring containing both nitrogen and oxygen atoms. Its molecular structure features two methyl groups attached to the 2 and 4 positions of the oxazole ring, which contributes to its unique chemical properties. This compound is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid or solid, depending on its state at room temperature. It is known for its moderate polarity, which influences its solubility in various organic solvents. 2,4-Dimethyl-1,3-oxazole exhibits stability under standard conditions but may undergo reactions typical of oxazole derivatives, such as electrophilic substitutions or nucleophilic attacks. It is utilized in various applications, including as a building block in organic synthesis and in the development of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Safety data indicates that, like many organic compounds, it should be handled with care, as it may pose health risks if ingested or inhaled. Proper safety protocols should be followed when working with this substance.

CAS:
2,4-Dimethyloxazole is a compound that belongs to the family of compounds called oxazoles. This molecule has been optimized for the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in Alzheimer's disease. The optimization process was done by using a series of computational methods such as molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations. The final molecule was then tested for its ability to inhibit AChE using a titration calorimetry assay and affinity assay. 2,4-Dimethyloxazole binds to bromodomains in cells which are known to be implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. It is believed that this binding will lead to improved cognition and memory function in patients with Alzheimer's disease.
Formula:C5H7NOPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:97.12 g/mol
