:Aflatoxin G2
Description:
Aflatoxin G2 is a naturally occurring mycotoxin produced by certain species of the Aspergillus fungus, particularly Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. It is classified as a secondary metabolite and is known for its potent toxicity and carcinogenic properties. Aflatoxin G2 is a derivative of aflatoxin B2 and is characterized by its molecular structure, which includes a fused bicyclic ring system. This compound is typically found in agricultural products, particularly in grains, nuts, and seeds, where it can contaminate food supplies. Aflatoxin G2 is less toxic than its more well-known counterpart, aflatoxin B1, but it still poses significant health risks, including liver damage and increased cancer risk upon prolonged exposure. The detection and quantification of aflatoxin G2 in food and feed are critical for food safety and public health, leading to regulatory measures to limit its presence in consumables. Proper storage and handling of susceptible crops are essential to minimize contamination and ensure food safety.

CAS:Controlled Product
Aflatoxin G2 is a metabolite of the mycotoxin aflatoxin. It is fluorescent and stable in complex with proteins and other molecules. The fluorescence detector is used for the detection of aflatoxins in food, feed, and water samples. Aflatoxins form stable complexes with proteins, which can be removed by incubating the sample with an excess of protein-binding materials such as trifluoroacetic acid or sodium citrate. Aflatoxin G2 can also be detected by using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) with a linear ion trap mass spectrometer (LC-MS/MS). MALDI-TOF MS/MS has been shown to have good sensitivity and specificity for the determination of aflatoxins in food samples.
Formula:C17H14O7Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White Off-White PowderMolecular weight:330.29 g/mol
